Exercise Physiologist assesses, plans and implements exercise programs for preventing and managing chronic diseases and injuries, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, cancer and arthritis, and assists in restoring optimal physical function, health and wellness
Typical tasks and duties
Exercise Physiologist may perform the following tasks:
- fitness testing of patients so that an accurate physiological profile of the individual can be obtained;
- developing specific exercise programmes and monitoring adherence to them;
- providing regular monitoring and reassessment of the exercise plan;
- producing reports and longitudinal studies;
- keeping up to date with ongoing research;
- raising awareness of health and fitness issues and promoting the benefits of sport and exercise;
